Zero USV, a British company specializing in unmanned surface vehicles (USV), took a new step with the official launch of the Oceanus12 from the Manor Marine shipyard in Dorset. This new model is ready for commissioning at the company’s home port in Plymouth, from where it will begin its integration trials.

Inspired by the autonomous transatlantic voyage of the Mayflower 400, the Oceanus12 incorporates advanced navigation technology and a hybrid-electric propulsion architecture. It is equipped with two drive systems to ensure redundancy and efficiency, in addition to a marine charging system developed by BRUSA HyPower. This combination gives it an operating range of more than 2,500 nautical miles.

Oceanus12 operates with artificial intelligence and remote control

At the heart of its navigation capability is GuardianAIthe stand-alone Marine AI software. This system analyzes real-time data streams, supported by Navtech’s high-precision marine sensors and HD radar, complying with international COLREG standards. The package also includes a remote operations center (ROC) controlled by Zero USV, allowing 24/7 unmanned monitoring on board.

With a length of 11.55 meters, cargo capacity of up to one ton and a modular keel system for interchangeable sensors, the vessel is prepared for surveillance, environmental monitoring and maritime security missions. Zero USV has announced that it plans to deploy more than a dozen of these units as part of a business model focused on charter fleets.

A turnkey solution for sustainable marine operations

The integration of hardware, software and remote operation makes the Oceanus12 a low carbon turnkey solution. It is ideal for clients looking to extend time at sea without requiring constant logistical support. This strategy represents a tangible evolution towards sustainable and cost-effective ocean operations.

This launch marks a new stage in maritime technology. With the Oceanus12 we not only deliver a state-of-the-art USV, we also offer a comprehensive solution for continuous and efficient operation.
